View across Portland and Chesil Beach

Just a little blog update after our mini-holiday trip down to Portland on the Dorset coastline last week, I have to say we were very fortunate with the weather it was beautiful! We have never been down to this part of the country before so it was a great adventure for us both and our dog Lil too. I just wanted to share some of our photos from our hol, including this amazing view from the top of the highest point on Portland looking down to Chesil Beach (loving the panorama photo option on my phone!).  We visited the famous lighthouse too, south of the isle of Portland, known as Portland Bill - reminding me of the old cartoon series on TV.

Remember this!? Flashback -

We also discovered the amazing Durdle Door, which was a beautiful spot to visit. We climbed down the mammoth slope to find a stunning secluded beach and cove - perfect for a spot of paddling with our Lil (excuse the graphic display of feet - that was the best feeling ever dipping them in the sea!).

Lyme Regis was another fab find in the hot sunny weather, a gorgeous place that was very busy but perfect for getting a sea breeze to cool us down, just look at that sky!

All in all we had a wonderful break, we would definitely recommend visiting this area of Dorset to anyone. Other great places to visit include Bridport (named the Notting Hill of Dorset - not quite, but a great market town), Sherborne is a beautiful town north of where we were staying, it was full of amazing indie stores and lovely architecture, definitely worth a trip. There's plenty of coves, beaches and views to discover along this stretch of coastline, and I really do love nothing better than being by the sea, it's perfect for recharging those batteries!
